(♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) RYAN: It’s our third
season for The Edge. We’re so excited to
bring you the first show. We’re hunting with the guys
from The Lodge at Little Duck. We’re hunting bow and arrow
caribou –giant big bulls– in Manitoba. It’s Manitoba time. Well, we’re at
Thompson, Manitoba. We’re one flight away from
landing at The Lodge at Little Duck. Looking forward to
our next flight; this will be our
third flight to get here. This is the exciting one. We get to see the
caribou trails from the air, so it will be pretty neat. Can’t wait. (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) MAN: (indistinct) How are you, buddy? (indistinct) RYAN: Okay, I just landed
at The Lodge at Little Duck. Just so you know what it’s
like to travel all the way from, I guess, from
anywhere in Canada to here, there’s a big difference,
because when you get here, the horizon’s everywhere. So, you look 360
degrees around, there’s no foothills,
there’s no mountains, there’s no
nothing; it’s just flat. And that is kinda’ neat. Anyway, we’re going to get to
the lodge and get some food. (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) RYAN: Rested up a little bit
and they got us in the boat right away, and the
16 foot aluminium boat–. We’re going to fire around
in these bays and glass for caribou. Now as we (indistinct),
from lake to lake, we’re going to have to get
through some of these rivers and there’s some
big boulders here. We’re going to have to get
the props through that and hopefully we don’t
whack the props, so as we go, we just keep
going further and further… (boat motor humming) RYAN: Oh yeah, you
got to pick a line, big time. (splashes) (♪♪♪) RYAN: The guides here are a
must because trying to get through a river
like that on your own, with a prop, for
the first time, there’s no way. You need to know the lines. You’ve got to be able to read
the rivers through the back eddies, watch for the
big rocks and the pools, and Barry did an awesome
job getting us through. We’ve been on the boat for
a bout 20 minutes now and there’s tons of
structure for animals to hide. There’s lots of (indistinct)
everywhere and you can just see that there’s going to
be really neat animals here, like, obviously, the caribou,
but it’s one of those places that you have to come
to, to see for yourself, to really see how neat it is. I see some. BARRY: What? RYAN: I think I see some. Okay, so we just came
around one of these bends–. It kind of all looks the same. And as soon as we came
around this one bend, it was like the perfect
introduction to caribou. This great big bull just came
up onto this ridge and he was sky-lined, and it was amazing. I mean, I got
goosebumps right now. We haven’t even gotten out
of the boat yet and I got so excited when we saw
that first caribou. Just neat. Just really neat. We’re about to embark on a
little trek after this caribou and see if we cant get one. So cool. All right, here we go. We’re going to go
after these bulls. (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪) (♪♪♪)
