Student Hunter Long tells stories through his photography

February 18, 2020

Vanderbilt junior Hunter Long uses photography
to tell stories. Not only can photography give you a taste of
reality, but it almost transcends reality and tells you something more about that story
and gives you emotions that a lot of times we never really witness. The molecular biology major is the deputy
multimedia director for the Vanderbilt Hustler. His photos tell the stories of student-athletes
on campus. I really like Vanderbilt. It’s a small enough campus where you don’t
feel super isolated but you also get intimately connected with everyone around campus. Last year, National Geographic chose Hunter’s
photo of Coach Corbin and the VandyBoys at the College World Series as its photo of the
day. That whole experience was something that I
will always remember and something that was just very fun. The ability to focus on biology and photography
at the same time is one thing Hunter will miss most about Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt really allows you to do what you
want to do, but also explore options that you may not have originally thought you could
do. And for me, that’s what makes it near and
dear to my heart.
