National Archery Tournament held at Kentucky Expo Center

August 11, 2019

BASKETBALL OR EVEN SOCCER BUT
FOR THESE STUDENTS AT THE EXPO
CENTER ARE TRYING TO PROVE THEIR
SKILLS WITH THE BOW AND ARROW. ARCHERY PROMOTES MOTIVATION,
FOCUS, ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AND
GIVES STUDENTS FROM VARIOUS
BACKGROUNDS, MORE CONFIDENCE.>>IT’S A WAY TO ALLOW A STUDENT
WHO MAY NOT BE ABLE TO EXPRE
HIM OR HERSELF, THE SAME WAY
THEY COULD IN CHEERLEADING,
BAND, FOOTBALL OR BASEBALL OR
WHATEVER. BUT THEY CLICK WITH THIS. STEPHON: ALMOST IN UNISON THEY
LINE UP TOGETHER SHOOTING AND
HITTING TARGETS BUT THE RULES OF
ARCHERY ARE NOT SO SIMPLE.>>THEY ARE SHOOTING THEIR FIVE
ARROWS AT 50 METERS AND ARE
GAUGING TO SEE IF THEY MAKE ANY
ADJUSTMENTS. YOU HEAR THREE WHISTLE BLASTS
AFTER EVERYONE LEAVES THE LINE,
TO GO GET ARROWS, SO IT IS
REALLY EASY THERE. FOURTH GRADE STUDENT JACK
SCHOLLMEYER IS FROM CENTRAL
MISSOURI. HE HAS HIS GRANDPA, DAD AND
FAMILY CHEERING HIM ON.>>IT IS PRETTY COOL. IT HELPS HIM FOCUS AND LEARN A
GOOD SKILL THAT HE CAN TAKE
OTHER PLACES OTHER THAN JUST
ARCHERY. STEPHON: TEAM SPIRIT IS
EVERYWHERE ON EVERY SHIRT AS
TEAMS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY
COMPETE.>>THIS IS MY FIRST YEAR
QUALIFY FOR STATE, QUALIFYING
FOR NATIONALS, AND IT FEELS
REALLY GOOD THAT I GET TO GET
THAT IN MY SENIOR YEAR
