How to Tie a Clove Hitch Knot

August 9, 2019

How to Tie a Clove Hitch Knot. This is a small but versatile knot. It’s so versatile, in fact, that there’s more
than one way to tie it. Here’s the easiest. You will need A single length of rope Something
to hitch to such as a post pole and or ring. Step 1. Loop the end of the rope counterclockwise
around the object you are hitching to (let’s say a pole) and cross it over the remaining
length of rope. Step 2. Make another counterclockwise loop around
the pole, but this time pass the end of the rope through the loop you’ve just formed (between
the now two strands of rope looping around the pole). Step 3. Pull at both ends to tighten the knot. Did you know A hitch is a knot that is tied
to an object; a lashing knot ties two objects together.

  1. ohhhh no, you never use rope that is round! that's the first rule in knot tying. use triangular rope or pentagonal rope if money is a problem. It works magnificent but it's a little harder to come by…………………………………………..since it doesn't exist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the hell kind of rope do you think you use? god! of coarse you use round rope.

  2. @jacobtyler87 just how HUGE is the diff bet these 2 tying terms to you, pray tell and share us a bit of your wondrous intelligence so we'll know more.

  3. @paidda Jacob is correct. It's called a clove hitch. Never a clove hitch knot. A knot is a knot and a hitch is a hitch. There IS a difference, usually covered on the first page or so in books on the topic.

  4. I learned all this and had competitions in the US navy tying this knot as fast as possible behind our backs blindfolded (that doesn't make much difference i know – was just for show). totally forgot all of this haha until i just relearnt it just now

  5. have you seen how much views they have llol AND THIER VIDEOS LOOK HOW MANY THEY HAVE LO OMG THEY HAVE HEAPS LOOK UP!

  6. I like the firefighter's palm up/palm down cloth hitch tying technique better. Easier! Look up Basic Firefighting Knots on youtube

  7. Actually no….the clove hitch is easily adjusted and undone, I would suggest trying a granny knot like the sheet bend, then she's going nowhere…:)

  8. shane taught me. remember him ? oh i remember him… i remeber him everyday             like this comment if you actually get that 😀

  9. first off, cyber man, if you dont have a single length of rope then what i did was used my resources-i took my shoe lace and just wraped it around my finger- a tip by the way, is if you dont want to take your shoelace completely out of your shoe then what i did was untied the shoelace and pulled it tight in order to supply enough rope/string. so dont worry about stength because you are just practicing with your finger. and dont pull too tight on the string 😉
