How to Shoot a Bow & Arrow: Beginner’s Archery : How to Select the Right Arrow Based on Weight

August 11, 2019

Hi, my name is Charlie Labarda and I’m here
with Expert Village to talk about beginning archery. At this time, we’re going to talk
about the weight of the arrow; how it will affect the flight, how far it will go, and
the impact of the arrow. This arrow weighs 250 grams. This arrow weighs 350 grams. This
arrow weighs 450 grams. The lighter arrow, if you shoot it at fifty yards, will go straighter.
The 355 gram arrow will drop at thirty yards. This heavy arrow will drop a lot sooner because
it’s a lot heavier. So, the lighter arrow will go faster and straighter. The medium
355 will drop; it will go slower and drop much faster. The heavier will go much slower
and drop much quicker. This arrow is a carbon tip arrow. It weighs 325 grams, and you can
mix them lower or higher. This is a forgiving arrow. It bends and it’s forgiving. This arrow
is aluminum. If it hits something, it will bend. It’s heavier and it has more power.
The bow poundage determines how the arrow will shoot. You have to match the weight of
the arrow to the poundage of your bow.
