How to Shoot a Bow & Arrow: Beginner’s Archery : How to Prepare for the Shot in Archery

August 15, 2019

Hi my name is Charlie Labarda. I’m here with
Expert Village to talk about beginning archery. This time we are going to show you how to
shoot; the proper way to shoot your bow. Make sure to look at it: nothing is loose, everything
is secure; look at my arrow make sure it’s in good condition; the tip tight; the vane
all glued in properly and the knot is properly lined up. What I do. I just insert straight
in, into my arrow, and just put it on the rest. Just like that. If you have a drop release,
I like to be set, set that, and it’s ready to go. So, when I drop my bow this way or
hold it this way it will not come off. Now, when you’re ready to shoot make sure nobody
is in the front of you; it’s safe and you’re ready to shoot. I look at my target; I get
my release, put it in the loop hole and am ready to shoot. I raise up to my target and
pull back. Just like so. Look at my peep site. I’ll line my sight and my pin. If it’s twenty
yards I line up my twenty yard pin and I open my hand. I don’t grip the handle. If I grip
the handle it’s going to shake or it’s going to shoot to the left or right so I leave it
open, just let it rest, then when I see the target I’m ready to release. Now, when you’re
pulling your string make sure your trigger finger is behind the trigger of the bow. When
you’re pulling it back it won’t release it if you put it in the front and you pull it
will automatically release your arrow. The safest way is pull it against it hold it tight,
pull back.
