 Gary Lineker has presented Match of the Day since 1999 after retiring from professional football in 1994  Lineker has a net worth of £30million according to The Richest, but how much is he paid by the BBC per year? The former England striker’s wage was revealed by the BBC last year as being between £1 75m and £1.76m per annum. The 1986 World Cup Golden Boot winner’s wage was revealed by his employer in 2018 after Freedom of Information request was made to the publicly-funded broadcaster  Lineker also presents the annual Sports Personality of the Year awards, and was the only male star to not take pay cut from the previous year  The ex-Tottenham and Barcelona forward became a professional footballer in 1978 after signing a deal with his local side Leicester City  He then joined Everton in 1985 before a three-year spell with Barcelona in Spain  Lineker scored 42 goals in 103 games during his time away from England before joining Spurs in 1989  The goal-poacher played for England throughout his career, scoring 48 goals in 80 games  Lineker finished his career with a spell in Japan playing for Nagoya Grampus Eight before turning his attention to presenting  After with a punditry role on BBC Radio 5 Live, Lineker took over from Des Lynam on Match of the Day and had held the role for 20 years  The Leicester-born presenter has juggled his commitments at the BBC with other broadcasters in recent seasons, now also fronting the Champions League coverage on BT Sport
