10 Craziest Out of Bounds Discoveries In Video Games

September 14, 2019

Let’s say you’re playing one of your
favorite video games. You’re deeply invested in exploring the vast scenery
around you when suddenly you hit an invisible wall. Since what seems like the
dawn of video games players have been finding ways to get past the boundaries
of their favorite games and sometimes what they find can be pretty remarkable.
As sort of a follow-up to my most shocking unfinished areas video, today
I’m gonna detail what I consider the top 10 craziest insane things ever found out
of bounds in a video game. Dragon Age Inquisition. This player was walking
through what seemed like a fairly normal playthrough of Dragon Age. Little did he
know that he had somehow skipped a trigger that would have loaded this room
and – oh wait don’t …whew… oh wait. Actually I need you go through that so I can talk about this.
So as you can see there’s some sort of really goofy object floating in this
room which has been identified by gamers as some sort of floating pie entity with
a crudely drawn face and affinity for wearing an enormous top hats. Graham
Kelley an environment artist at Bioware revealed in a youtube comment “I hid it
under the level, you weren’t supposed to go through it” and explains that it’s
part of a series of hidden objects hidden behind barriers in the game that
he refers to as Lord of the Pies. Lord of the… Oh yeah that damn book. Well I guess
we can just be happy that we can confirm that this was intentional. I would be
scared out of my mind if this guy showed up as a mistake in my code. Call of Duty
Advanced Warfare. If you climb up and out of bounds on this building weirdly
enough you’ll stumble upon this rifle suspended in midair. Strangely enough
that gun is only somewhat functional. Apparently this RPG gun type can be
found on most other previous Call of Duty games but not in this one, except
here. Supposedly this gun was being played around with in Call of Duty
Advanced Warfare but was cut early in development for not fitting in with the
game setting. It’s strange though that a gun cut so early in development is still
accessible inside the final game as it’s missing most of its sounds and
animations but it’s still usable. Normally programmers would just disable
an unused weapon type like this but maybe they wanted us to find it? Nah.
Horizon Zero Dawn. First I want to say I love this game.
A third-person action-adventure that questions humanity’s confounded
navigation of technology while taking down robot dinosaurs in post-civilization Colorado. Dope. So if you take yourself quite a bit out of the map
there’s a mystery sitting here that I still want
to figure out. There’s a very mysterious whirlpool just sitting out in the
middle of the water where players can’t see. Many players claim they see a
glimmer underneath the water implying something maybe underneath there but
unfortunately the whirlpool is pretty tightly blocked off by invisible walls
so people still haven’t figured this one out. The theory I find most believable is
that a bell-mouth spillway exists in Colorado’s Cherry Creek State Park which
may be geographically accurate to this location in the game.
But let’s get real – we all know something insane’s under there. Why else would the
developers program such an unnecessary detail way outside the playable
environment like this? Well, I guess it’s not totally unexpected the detail in this
game is pretty amazing. Ape Escape. Ape Escape is usually a pretty nice piece of
nostalgia for PlayStation gamers as it was the first game to utilize Sony’s now
trademark Dual Shock controller, considered one of the biggest
innovations in console history. That has absolutely nothing to do with what I’m
about to show you though. If you were to use this glitch to lift yourself up and
out of the map you can get yourself to this out-of-bounds area to an inaccessible
highway segment. The strangest part about this is that there’s an unused death
trigger here. If this car drives over your ass – boom – dead. So it’s clear at some
point the possibility of getting hit by a moving car was intended but abandoned.
Maybe that’s because Sony’s not a huge fan of kids getting hit by cars? That’s
just my theory. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 Now I probably could have just spent
this whole video focused on Tony Hawk content. These games are glitchy as hell
but a large part of that is clear because the Tony Hawk games were sort of
the first to allow for this level of player freedom. Even to this day this
level of freedom is relatively unparalleled.
I want to show you a simple area that I found recently that I really like. I
don’t believe this area was accessible until THUG PRO because Tony Hawk Pro
Skater 3 didn’t have the set restart future introduced some Tony Hawk Pro
Skater 4 but by using the set restart feature you can glitch yourself into
this really nice underwater area with these really beautiful animated fish. I’m
not even really sure why is this here because I don’t ever remember noticing
the fish in the first place. I could probably have done a video of like a
hundred details in Tony Hawk games that you didn’t notice – something like that. I
know a lot of you are still coming for my Tony Hawk video so if that’s
that you may be interested in seeing please let me know in the comments below.
And if you’re enjoying my content please subscribe. Thank you so much guys, your
support is amazing! Back to the show. Doom 64. Very similar to the Dragon Age
situation these guys were playing a fairly normal game of Doom 64 when this
player went to go through the elevator shaft and the elevator wasn’t there.
Because he was trapped in this pit thanks to a glitch he was treated to
this rather hilarious message: “I suck at making maps.” Turns out players
on Doom2.net had found this texture in the files before and interviewed the
developers about its inclusion in the game when they had the chance. “Artists
create textures. We create levels. Level have no texture, level tell us so.
Basically one of us missed texturing the spot. Who was it?
Probably me. So basically this texture shows up wherever there’s a missing
texture in the game as a means of motivation to the programmers to fix it.
Strangely enough this is not the first example of this where I talked about a
Midway title that accidentally left a really weird out of place placeholder graphic in the game that was meant as a means to motivate the developers
into doing their jobs. What was going on over there at Midway? Resident Evil 4.
This is a mystery that’s been around for a little while but it’s recently really
picked up speed on the Internet. Players found if you unlock the camera and go
far into the distance towards this abandoned building, you’ll find a strange
and unusual image of a person. This one really creeps me out. I don’t understand
if this would be a detail or a cut area or I think it’s most likely an easter
egg. Some people theorize that this image slightly resembles one of the game
developers but I didn’t see an image that looks strikingly similar as far as
I could tell. Add it to the list of unsolved gaming mysteries. Counter Strike.
This one is simple but effective. If you noclip your way out of bounds in the
Counter-Strike map Dust2 you can find a hidden message dedicated to level
designer Justin DeJong who passed during the making of counter-strike. I think
this is a really cool and unique way to immortalize somebody’s legacy. Halo 2.
This one used to freak me out as a kid. If you a line a player up with this
pillar and knock their body through it by slamming them with a vehicle, occasionally you’ll suddenly be met by a
giant, monstrous Master Chief painted across the entire sky. Whoa. There’s
actually a pretty logical explanation to this. If you look closely there’s a
floating sphere underneath the map. Looking at the background of the map you
can notice that the sky is somewhat spherical. Putting two and two together
you can put together that the spherical skybox underneath the map houses the
images that makes up the sky. What’s happening here is that for some reason
only the bottom of the skybox or rather sky sphere is solid so the player can
get a player body into the sky sphere and sit at the bottom of it suddenly
projecting the gargantuan body across the sky in realtime. The scale of the
Master Chief also gives a sense of scale of how the smaller images inside the
sphere are being stretched to cover the entire sky. Still creeps me the hell out
though. Fallout 3 New Vegas. Now this is a serious attention to detail. On Fallout
New Vegas on the level megaton there’s a character named Stockholm acting as a
gate guard and watch lookout way in the distance above your head in a spot that
you’re never supposed to reach. Let’s see if we can get there… “The more time I spend talking to you, the
less I’m spending watching for Raiders. How the hell did you get up here anyway? Another week another video. Thanks again
everyone, your support is always amazing. If you haven’t already please subscribe
and also if you’ve ever found anything outside of the bounds of a video game
please let me know. This is actually a pretty common thing that happens to all
of us where we fall out of the bounds and maybe see something we weren’t supposed
to. So please share in the comments, I’d love to do another video like this. Again,
let me know your thoughts. Stay tuned!

  1. In this video I mentioned the possibility of a doing a 100 Things You Didn't Notice Video in Tony Hawk Games video. That video is here: https://youtu.be/-1BoG3yPnu0

  2. I love how you skip what i would call the "basic b**ch " of glitches and commonly covered subjects . Most youtubers use them when they clutch at straws for making "interesting" apparently unheard of content which almost everyone knows ! Thanks 🙂

  3. So they put a hidden message saying in memory of the guys name outside the map?
Why would you put it there?

  4. My sister found something cool in GTA San Andreas. If you go racing, fly into the crowd. Once you do this, it'll take you into a void-like area where everything is black. It can either turn white after a while and then a city will appear or it will seem like the person is in water. If someone else has discovered this cheat, I'd love to know. I remember my sister trying it out and laughing at how weird the whole thing was.

  5. I found an out of bounds easter egg in Stardew Valley where two NPCs talking to each other outside the maze of the Halloween festival game.If you point the arrows to the two NPCs there is a dialog box but you cannot click them. You can use a no clip mod to talk to them but I can't remember the dialog.

  6. Hitting the invisible wall in GTA happened to me before. In the “Minor Turbulence” mission, it’s common if you go a bit too low.

  7. Dual Schock was the one of the bigest inventions??? If you forget the fact that vibration features and joysticks in gamepads were inventend by Nintendo 2 years earlier, ok. Lol

  8. If you take an ice berg in the grass island on creative and throw it on top of yourself then you will go under the map and see this machine type thing it looks like the machine next to the storm shield in save the world and you can access your settings from there they are trying to patch it so hurry up and try it yourself!

  9. The gentle muffin is said to be the Lord of pies if you walk into it and put in the console comand- inthepie×12

You are ported to a room that has the gentle muffin as a npc that you are able to talk to

    Source- unknown

  10. Swear I remember an area in halo 3 that also produces giant corpses.
Can't remember which exact multiplayer level it was though sadly 🙁

  11. "These guys where playing a fairly normal game of Doom 64." Doom 64 didn't have multiplayer, so that's not a fairly normal game of Doom 64 off the bat.

  12. I don’t know if anyone else has heard of this, but I’ve also found the texture “I suck at making maps” on level 6 of Doom 64, I don’t know if anyone else knows of this as well, just felt like sharing

  13. If you make a black hole near the save point in the forest of tiny Tina's assault on dragons keep right before the area where you smear the blood fruit on the orcish scrawls, you can see the final area of the DLC where you kill the handsome sorcerer, as well as flame rock refuge. As well as some other rather interesting areas.

  14. I don't hate but i dislike horizon zero dawn,i lost all my progress for some reason
And i almost finished the game
    Fucking bullshit

  15. So has anybody been down that Whirlpool yet? I find it strange that nobody has used a free camera, or no clip hack to get over there. It's been a little while since I used the ol' 5.05 PS4 but if somebody has some experience with cheat engine (or PS4 Cheater in my case) and wants to help me find the values to make a no clip cheat I can check it out. Im pretty good at making cheats with cheat engine, but I've never worked on no clipping or free camera codes before.

  16. The Fallout 3 parcour was fun, and the most amazing thing: done without use of mountain climbing horses!

  17. I was playing a weird taxi game and if you hit a person with a car they die which is expected and I broke through invisible barrier and found a pit for the dead bodys it's not that crazy but it is werid I know the pit is for

  18. Theres a few places in CS (though I have not played it in like 15 years now..) that are just like that one in de_dust2…

  19. 1:17 you'd be scared if the computer created a fully textured model of a pie with a face and a top hat… I dont think they do that

  20. In Resident Evil 4, there's another one. The first time you go through the farm just after the first Chainsaw Guy fight, you can hop over a fence at a just right angle and get outside the map. Outside the map is a pile of A LOT of ammo and other things like PTAs. I have no idea why it's there and I should research it, but it's a cool easter egg regardless.

  21. 4:50 I hate when programmers do this stupid thing.I'm a programmer but to be honest,I don't put those weird messages or hidden texture on my games. When I start creating a game after a time I finish it and done. But looks like some programmers are…you know.Lazy 🙂

  22. In goat simulator in the goatville if you go out of bounds behind there's a UFO but you have to use drillcopter

  23. Hey man, I'm an older guy (28) and not really into a lot of YouTubers. But I really dig your straight forward, non-cringey, and interesting videos! Thanks!

  24. I know a good one from a long time ago. Only for those who've played Toonown Online know, if you went to a cannon in a party with the ignore player box on, and then clicked decline while in the cannon, you will spawn in a void with toons with their arms open just floating there and a small glitched loading screen image also floating and you also see clouds. I called it Toontown heaven.

  25. the accidental loading trigger skip sometimes happens to me in dark souls 3, usually when entering road of sacrifices. has this happened to anybody else ?

  26. OddHeader I binged watch just About a great portion of your Videos I Love Your channel Subbed right away ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Muahhhhh!!!!!!

  27. Isn't there one in Left 4 Dead 2 where you can see the guy that fired the rocket launcher into the truck

  28. There's a way to get under the map in GTA 5. If you swim around long enough you can get to an area where you can eventually get out of the water still under the map. You can spawn a helicopter and explore. I looks like there is some wierd unfinished stuff there. I doubt I'm the first or only one to do this I never looked it up but I always had fun messing around down there looking for wierd stuff

  29. Holy shit I totally agree with you about the sphere under the halo 2 map i always wondered what the ball was and why your character showed up huge in the sky!! I was thinking about that at the beginning of video and thought it'd be cool if you showcased it and was totally surprised when you did and had a perfectly reasonable a explanation!! Wow been wondering about this since halo 2 came out!

  30. Wait fallout 3 had levels since the last time i played which was 2016 I don’t remember levels damn they must have added so much since ninja spaceman

  31. For the Halo one, I find a lot of out of bounds areas for the skybox like that in Garry's Mod levels and while me, my sister, and my friends were playing, I saw something similar happen with my sister's avatar. Now I go around purposely spawning ragdolls in there just for that function. I have pics of it all over my Steam page. XD

  32. I do not think Colorado has a Bell Mouth Spillway, they have Crystal Dam but that has a regular spillway, and Cherry Creek def doesn't have one, the picture and its credit would be Napa California, i cant seem to find evidence of a Bell mouth existing in colorado, only idaho and california and one in england, derwent valley to be specific. tbh it just looks like an oversight or an reference to these engineering marvels, but to my knowledge no cherry creek damn acts more as a reservoir than a dam in practice, still an intersting thought.

  33. I found in THUG2 on the hawaii map i think it was if you jump inside the tiki mouth it will teleport 2 another demension where you could grab a skateboard. I havent played it in almsot 7yrs so im not 2 sure if that Map is acurate but there is a tiki you have 2 skate towards it then ollie inside the mouth.

  34. When I found that's in Witcher 3, what happen was I got Stuck in a Building and went Flying and hit the Mountain.

  35. I had to go back through all of your videos to find any I hadn’t seen and click like on each one in the process.

  36. I'm not sure at all about this but the resident evil 4 one seems similar to the sprites used for innocent people in lethal inforcerers. The hand positions are exactly the same

  37. I got out of Bounds In Wildcraft and fell under the map it was sunset colored then it was Black I never stoped falling farther into the Void until I quit and load the game again

  38. I remember a glitch in borderlands 2, it’s in the dust , you have to use the light runner vehicle , youd wait for the caravan to spawn ,
Kill the patrols that are guarding him , raid , then wait until the caravan drives off , next you have to follow it to where the caravan exits ther map , as soon as the doors open and it starts to enter the exit of the map you ram into it with boost and if you get it right time it launches you to a random location on the map

  39. 6:40 Why do game developers even do this? Why can’t the sphere/sphere’s texture ACTUALLY fully exist in the sky?

  40. THEY ACTUALLY TALKED ABOUT THE TOP HAT MUSIC BOX IN DA:I! HOLY SHIT! I FOUND THAT TOO AGES AGO & WAS SO CONFUSED ABOUT IT!

  41. 101000111100110010101010100110100101010011110010101010010102010101010010101010101010101010010110010101010101010101001010010101010101010100100101010101010100101001010
